Session Notes: Period D, Stretch 3/3

O: The Empress, The Emperor, The Hermit

Susanna acts as practitioner; Raz as director; and Omer as videographer. The director holds stewardship of the material, three random Tarot cards drawn from the Tarot of Marseille. The practitioner is unaware of the specific material throughout the session; the videographer is. The director is free to transmit – or experiment with transmitting – that material however they see fit. While the videographer is aware of the material, they are not responsible for it.

During this Period, we proposed and played with three Dynamic Configurations, experimental conditions:

1. [A] < B | C. A acts as practitioner, manifesting the practice space alone; directed by B, who holds stewardship of a material; and both are filmed by C.

2. [A < B] | C. A acts as practitioner; directed by B, who holds stewardship of a material; both are manifesting the practice space, and are filmed by C.

3. ( [A] | C ) < B. A acts as practitioner; filmed by C; and are both directed by B.

We found that the differences between configurations 1 and 2 were not immediately clear. Thus, we decided to stick with notation 1 to mark both possibilities (for the time being). Configuration 3, in which the director directs both practitioner and videographer proved challenging: the director focused exclusively on the practitioner, the videographer only receiving the material by proxy. Thus, we decided to stick with notation 1 to mark, include the potential directorial relation between director and videographer (for the time being).
